It helps the cared for maintain physical and mental health longer, gives them more care time, creates more employment for carers and is more shared within the community.
What is attendance allowance?
Attendance allowance is a government-given allowance to people who have a long-term physical or mental disability and that require care. This also requires the recipient to be above pension age.
The allowance isn’t means tested so you can claim no matter your income or savings, even if you are still working or studying.
You can spend the allowance on anything that makes your life easier.
Your local council will consider this while figuring out your care costs.
The allowance won’t reduce any other benefits you may have and could potentially increase them.
